Dynamic Loading and Response of Structures Workshop for EA

This one-day workshop is aimed at transferring knowledge and skills to civil and structural engineers on the fundamentals and practical applications of structural dynamics analysis techniques in support of the design of structures to withstand rare dynamic actions including that of an earthquake.
Means of performing independent checks of results using hand calculations and the use of TechnoLab™ "hands-on" experiments will feature in this workshop.
Date: 23rd, March 2018
Location: EA VIC Div Headquarters, 600 Bourke St
Presenters: Professors Nicholas Haritos and Nelson Lam
Dynamic Loading & Response of Structures for IPENZ

This course will provide participants with a valuable overview of the general subject area.
It will also give them an insight into the issues associated with load assessment, response analysis and factors that must be addressed in developing a successful load resistant structure design, concentrating on wind and wave loading effects on structures.
Date: August, 2017
Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Presenters: Professor Nicholas Haritos
3D PRINTING
An overview into the rapid growth in 3D printing (additive manufacturing), the current industry and its future projections.
The workshop will outline how 3D printing works and will provide a detailed analysis of the various types of 3D printing processes available, their benefits and limitations, CAD design requirements, materials used for printing their attributes and shortcomings.

Case studies will be presented of how current innovative businesses have incorporated 3D printing to enable an industry advantage in their field.
Date: June 28, 2016
Location: Engineers Australia
Presenters: Professor Nicholas Haritos, Jeremy Kaddis, Tony Koutsonikolas
Structural Dynamic Fundamentals & Practical Applications

This short course is primarily targeted at practicing civil and structural engineers who are engaged in the design or assessment of structures.

It should also be of interest to engineering professionals working in government departments, local councils, or with developers and owners of infrastructure.
Graduate students involved in the study of, or research into, the performance and design of structural systems subjected to dynamic loading would also benefit from this workshop.
Date: 17th September, 2015
Location: Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Hotel on
Presenters: Professors: Nicholas Haritos & Nelson Lam
IStructE Course on "Structural Dynamics & Vibration"

This half-day workshop gives structural engineers an insight into the very specialised area of dynamics and vibration of structures which is not always well covered in undergraduate degree programs in civil engineering.
Emphasis is on understanding fundamental principles and the use of hand calculations for checking results from the computer.
Physical models will be used to illustrate structural dynamics phenomena and the measurement of vibrations. The three speakers are well known experts in this field.
Date: September 2014
Location: Graduate House, Melbourne in
Presenters: Professors: Nelson Lam, Nicholas Haritos & Emad Gad
